Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram's 2023-24 NBA season overview
En route to the second trip to the NBA playoffs of his career, Ingram essentially experienced two separate seasons within a season. From Opening Night through mid-March, he appeared in 63 of New Orleans’ first 69 games, helping to lead the Pelicans into contention for a top-four seed in the Western Conference. However, a March 21 knee bone contusion injury not only sidelined him for a 12-game span, but also appeared to negatively impact him when he returned for Game 82, a pair of West play-in games and the 4-0 first-round loss to Oklahoma City. Ingram poured in 20-plus points in 34 of those first 63 games he played, but only did so once over six postseason contests, seemingly providing evidence that he wasn’t fully himself physically. Asked during April 16 exit interviews how he views the season overall – given the team’s regular season success, followed by a drop to No. 8 seed and playoff disappointment – Ingram responded, “I guess every story doesn’t have a good ending. We know some injuries messed us up a little bit. But we can do things internally to make us a better ballclub and organization (in the future).”

Brandon Ingram by the numbers
49.7
Ingram’s career high in field-goal percentage from the 2018-19 campaign, a rate he nearly surpassed this season (49.2). His top rate in that category occurred in his one season playing alongside LeBron James with the Lakers. Ingram’s shot attempts per game (15.9) in 2023-24 dropped to its lowest level since he came to the Crescent City, but that shouldn’t have been a surprise given the increased availability of leading scorer Zion Williamson.
22-12
New Orleans record when Ingram made at least 50 percent of his shots from the field. The Pelicans went 7-1 when the starting small forward drained three or more three-pointers.
51/44/82
Ingram’s shooting-split percentages in the Smoothie King Center from the field, three-point arc and foul line, respectively, making him one of the relatively rare New Orleans players who shot and performed better in home games than on the road. Ingram’s away splits were 48/27/79.

Ingram managed to sink five three-pointers over five consecutive possessions (a span of just 2:26 of game clock), highlighting his 41-point eruption. Ingram finished 8/11 on three-pointers, establishing a career high for makes.
#2, Jan. 17, New Orleans 132, Charlotte 112
Ingram is sometimes known as a reluctant three-point shooter, but two of his most productive offensive games this season were filled with buckets from downtown. Facing the franchise from his home state of North Carolina, he shot 7/11 on treys and registered a triple-double (28 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists).
#3, March 1, New Orleans 129, Indiana 102
His work was done just three minutes into the fourth quarter, due to the Pelicans building a massive lead over the Pacers, answering a defeat in the Hoosier State from two nights earlier. In 30 minutes of action, Ingram torched Indiana for 34 points on 13/21 accuracy from the field. He may have threatened a triple-double if it had been a closer contest, notching eight rebounds and six assists.
